By Shoghi Effendi and Lady Blomfield
Shortly after 'Abdu'l-Bahá's ascension on November 28, 1921,
Shoghi Effendi and Lady Blomfield, a prominent English Bahá'í,
compiled an account of the grief-filled event. This book is a reprint
of that account. In it, the Guardian has not only given an account
of 'Abdu'l-Bahá's last days on earth, but has also provided
a short compilation of the Master's own words.
Also included in this edition are several eyewitness accounts of
'Abdu'l-Bahá's passing written by Western pilgrims who happened
to be in the Holy Land at the time. The book gives a full text of
the memorial service that was held on Mt. Carmel in 'Abdu'l-Bahá's
honor, as well as the first letter of the new Guardian to the Bahá'í
World.
This short volume provides more than enough material for a suitable
observance of the Bahá'í Holy Day. But this is a deeply
emotional account of 'Abdu'l-Bahá's ascension which can be
read at any time to offer communion and inspiration to the believer.
