In the Persian Bayán, the Báb has fixed the exact moment of the
beginning of His revelation as two hours and eleven minutes after
sunset on the evening of May 22, 1844. Every year on that date,
Bahá'ís around the world gather to commemorate this event--the dawn
of a new era in religious history.
This book brings together for easy reference important selections
from Bahá'í literature concerning the Declaration of the Báb. These
passages can be used to arrange programs for the annual celebration
of this Holy Day, or they can be studied on their own for a deeper
understanding of the meaning of this event.
Included are passages from the writings of the Báb and Bahá'u'lláh.
Section two of the book turns to the words of 'Abdu'l-Bahá, including
two table talks that he delivered on the occasion of this Holy Day.
Next is Shoghi Effendi's exposition of the meaning of the Báb's
declaration. Following this are accounts of the events of the Declaration
itself. It is hoped that this short volume will be of service to
the Bahá'í community by providing as complete a record as can now
be found of the history of the Declaration of the Báb.
